Tree Felling in Redhouse Wood.
There has been much activity in Redhouse Wood during the last week as a substantial area of the southern quarters is being felled. The wood, which is adjacent to the Estate and was once part of the Slingsby holdings in Moor Monkton, is being cropped to supply a local chicken farm with fuel for its newly installed woodchip boilers. This all makes sense when considering the drive to move away from fossil fuels especially as the distance the timber will have to travel is only just over a kilometre. Nevertheless, it is slightly disconcerting to see trees that you have known all your life disappear in such numbers, transforming the shape of the countryside.
