1000 Trees Planted at Red House!
Thank you to everyone who came down to the Ings on Sunday the 9th of March to help with the planting of an area of new woodland. At 9am the first band of planters were given a lift on the trailer down to the field in the beautiful, early spring sunshine. The operation involved people of all ages from 3 years and up and proved to be a wonderful community day as everyone set about planting various species of tree (including willow, alder and oak) in the 0.5 hectare field. By 5pm most of the field had been planted but volunteers appeared again on Monday and Tuesday until all the 1000 trees had been set in. The next phase of planting will take place in the autumn.
Thank you also to The Woodland Trust who subsidised the cost of trees and materials through the MOREwoods Scheme.
