Red House Broadband Improvements
This week Red House has, at last, been connected to the fibre network giving us a ten-fold improvement on our internet bandwidth. Last year Open Reach laid a fibre cable past the Red House gate to the Yorkshire Water Pumping Station on Redhouse Ings. So, despite being nearly 2 miles from the main cable to the village, this gave us the opportunity, through the Government Gigabit Scheme, to extend the cable the 250 metres along the drive to the main building. We were already being served by the Local Area Network from Nun Monkton Primary School, giving us 10Mb/s, but this was a fragile system involving signal hopping through several properties across the fields. There is still a hop from the main building to the houses behind (the picture shows the aerials on Montrose House) but, as we are now fully in control of the system, it will be easier to deal with any hiccups. We have also been able to extend the range with signals now available on the Caravan Site and the River Mooring.
