Swallows in the Old Stables
Swallows are abundant this year and the parents are busy feeding and fledging their first broods. They are everywhere to be seen, whether it is the young learning to fly from the fences around the paddocks or the adults flying in and out of buildings feeding the young. A particularly busy nest is the one in the photogragh, situated in the entrance passage to the old stables. The air space in the yard outside is crowded with birds causing a few problems for the paintwork of the cars under the flight path. The five young seem to be doing well and we look forward to seeing their first efforts at flight in the coming week or so.
