New Year Fireworks
In an attempt to emulate the New Year fireworks display in London, we had our own pyrotechnic show at Red House. Owing to the large number of horses on the estate, however, we steer clear of big, noisy, outside fireworks (it was also very cold and wet) so we planned an indoor display in the warmth of Moat Cottage aimed at the younger residents. The show was originally scheduled for the 31st of December but had to be postponed when no-one could remember the "safe place" the fireworks had been stored in. Inevitably, they were discovered before breakfast on the 1st of January under a bookcase. So, that evening, a small crowd gathered in Moat Cottage kitchen and, with the fire alarm disabled, a visual feast of wriggling worms, strobing lights and sparkling fountains took place.
