Farewell to Chessie
We have just received the sad news that Chessie, the 22 year old Red House pony, has died of suspected liver failure while out on winter loan. Chessie had been at Red House for 15 years and worked at the Preparatory School until it closed in 2001 and Red House Riding Holidays for all of those 15 years. Between the Riding Holiday seasons she was frequently loaned out and gave pleasure to many riders and, for several years, did some stints with the Bramham Pony Club. Chessie had her own, unique character - she always knew exactly what she wanted but you only had to look in her eyes to know exactly what she was thinking. She could be frustrating to ride at times but, fuelled by enough rider determination, she was a very rewarding pony. She will be missed by everyone at Red House.
The photo shows Chessie being taken around the junior showjump course on the first Riding Holiday of 2012.
