A Change of Season
The last couple of weeks have seen a complete change in the weather, the daytime temperature reached the dizzy heights of 19.5 degrees centigrade recently and we have been spared any significant anount of rain for over 4 weeks. This has meant the land is finally drying out after the past 12 months of wet and we have been able to make some headway on the preparation of the cross country course. (Just this morning we finished off preparing some new jumps that we started working on a year ago!). It has also meant that the wildlife is waking up. This toad had obviously sensed the soil warming up and, after emerging from the flower beds by the Garden House, was photographed making its way across the drive towards the Ducker Pond in the Moat Field for the start of the breeding season.
