A Liking for Lichen
Following a tip-off about some interesting lichens along the hedgerows in the Deer Park, the intrepid estate photographer set off through the lingering puddles, a legacy of the snowfall last weekend. Once on to the higher land of the Park the lichens provided a fascinating study especially with some warm sunshine to bring out the detail. It's easy to miss the intricacies of these strange organisms, half algae and half fungi, as you walk past and it is only when you stop and look closely that they reveal their true beauty.
