Five in the Nest
In the old stables at Red House there are several favourite nesting sites for the swallows and the one in the picture seems to be the most populated. As can be imagined the parents of these hungry youngsters are having a busy time of it. We timed an average of about 4 minutes between feeds this morning so, with 17 hours daylight at the moment and assuming the parents can keep up the work rate, that would mean about 250 feeds in a day!
