On the Mend
One of the new Red House chickens is recovering well after a nasty incident involving a muck heap and a tractor. During site clearance work for the new stables the chickens have been very helpful in removing unnecessary worms from any freshly turned earth. On one occasion a tractor was being used to clear a muck heap with the chickens in attendance. The chicken (pictured above) was accidentally scooped up into the loader and transported to the new muck heap where it was tipped out and spotted by the driver tumbling down the side of the heap. It was picked up and found to be suffering from shock and have a damaged foot. It has been convalescing next to the other chickens and is receiving a daily supply of fresh worms from the building site.
