Red House is situated deep in the countryside of the Vale of York and is surrounded by a network of lanes, tracks, footpaths and bridleways. This makes it ideal territory for a quiet stroll or a longer expedition to explore some of the local rural and historical landmarks. The proximity of the River Ouse and its lack of bridges does restrict the area to the south of its banks but it does itself provide some of the best walks and cycle routes. The cycling opportunities here can only be described as superb! The land is flat, there are miles of quiet lanes adjacent to the estate and it is relatively easy to link directly to the excellent cycle routes of York. Below is a map showing a selection of the best walks and cycle tours around Red House. Important Note on Cycle Routes: To an experienced cyclist the routes around Red House could all be described as "easy to medium" but, for a family outing with small children, we would recommend certain factors be taken into account. |
