Getting a Clearer Signal
The railway signal, that stands outside Signal Cottage, has had a complete repaint this week with all the iron and woodwork given a fresh coat. Originally built in the 1930's and used on L&NER track, it was installed in the late 1960's outside the school model railway barn. In 2011 it was moved a couple of metres away from the building and extensively restored with a working light. It's had a couple of minor repairs since the restoration but this was its first major facelift since then. The project has been driven by Abi Welborn (pictured) and, once the paint has dried, the light bulb has been replaced and grease applied to the moving parts, it will look and work as if it were new.
