Back from the Deep
It's been a busy time down on the mooring in recent weeks. Work continues on the conversion of the barge to a houseboat and then, back in February, we had a sinking. Early Doors, pictured, which had only just been put back on the water after a major overhaul and engine repair, sank overnight. A mishap with her bilge pump was most likely the cause. It proved quite a job to get her back above water. Slings were worked under her hull and, by fixing them to the pontoon and then winching them up from the deck of the grey boat behind, she slowly came to the surface. Water was pumped out of her and she was soon back in her rightful place. Looking a bit green after two months in the river she has been thoroughly cleaned now but she will be needing a new engine.
