Jubilee Treasure Hunt
The quiet little village of Moor Monkton had a hectic day this Monday to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Events got underway in the morning with a treasure hunt around the parish with participants walking, cycling or driving the trail. The picture shows the Welborn family of Red House searching for hidden jewels in the telephone box in the Main Street. This was followed by a picnic accompanied by a Brass Band and the crowning of the Jubilee King (the child who found the most jewels on the treasure hunt). In the afternoon there was a sports day followed by a tug of war and kwik cricket. After a short rest, everyone gathered in the evening for a barbecue and musical extravaganza featuring village performers both young and old. It was a truly memorable day.
