Prince Rupert House
An imposing Victorian house with a private, sheltered garden and views over the Old Stable Yard, Moat and the River Ouse.
Prince Rupert House, built in the mid 19th century, is a major extension of the original main building of Red House. Its three, almost symmetrical, façades look out onto the courtyard, the oval and across open farmland to Redhouse Wood. It has a host of unique features including an arched chimney housing the old school bell, tiled floors unevenly worn over 150 years by gentry, servants and school children and a huge, brick faced fireplace with multifuel stove. It has 5 bath or shower rooms including 3 original roll-top baths. All windows are of the original sash style and recently have been double glazed.
Prince Rupert House has Bed and Breakfast accommodation available run independently of Red House Estate. PLease contact the proprietor, Julia James.
Prince Rupert House is an exceptional property combining a long history with modern comforts and an amazing amount of space.
