Aerial Archaeology
The hot, dry weather has given us a great opportunity to take a look at old earthworks and lost buildings around the estate as the old walls and ditches leave marks in the parched ground. We have found evidence of 3 buildings, including the old turret on the garden wall. Also this drone view of the Deer Park and neighbouring Park Farm fields shows what looks like two avenues of trees radiating away from the original main drive to the house. This was possibly a crows foot planting to draw the eye as you drove up the drive. The ditches and ponds in the Deer Park are also visible although these are bemusing in their complexity!
