The Hedgehog Season
This time of year the hedgehog population becomes much more visible as the young start venturing out from their nests. Early evening is the best time to see them and, whether they are emerging from the Moat Field to check the cat food bowls by the back door or bumbling across the lawns in search of food on the Yew Walk, they are a common sight. This one, in the picture, caused a delay in a tennis game as it sauntered past the court en route to the privet hadges at the front of the house.
