Early Morning by the Ouse
At this time of year a walk by the river just before sunrise, when the skies are clear, is very rewarding. The frosty, still air allows the mists to cling to the fields and water giving a peaceful aura to the Estate while most sensible people are still tucked up warm in bed. The boats on the pontoons seem to be asleep as, above, the occasional goose or duck flies silently overhead and, below, the river drifts east towards the rising sun.
