Apple Juicing Week 2
It has been another busy apple juicing weekend at Red House as we hosted the second Moor Monkton Village Event. Over the weekends of the 15th/16th and 29th/30th of October we opened the juicing equipment to members of the village and locals from further afield for 4 hours each day and the presses were in action non-stop. As people arrived with their bags of apples they were able to operate the equipment under supervision and get to taste their own apple juice before it was bottled. They could then take it home or leave it for pasteurising to be collected later. Any quiet moments were filled by picking Red House apples which were juiced and prepared for sale at village events later in the year. We were so busy that even the planned cider making had to be cancelled.
This has turned out to be a thoroughly rewarding event which provides a great opportunity for locals to catch up or introduce themselves while taking part in a very satisfying activity.
