Autumnal Grazing in the Moat Field
We had a memorable summer and it looks like it's going to be an autumn to remember as well. We are continuing to enjoy the glorious weather which is giving us bright, sunny days and beautiful, starlit nights. It is a real treat walking around the fields enjoying the colour of the trees and hedgerows. The winter birdlife is all around with plenty of waterfowl on the reservoir providing the soundtrack. However, it is the fieldfares which are the highlight as they flock from hawthorn to whitethorn stripping the red and black berries, flashing their bright breast feathers in the sunlight. The horses look so content in the fields as well as the grass is still good. The picture shows Whisper, one of the retired Red House horses, enjoying the pasture in the Moat Field surrounded by a carpet of sycamore leaves.
