Pointing the Sets
The Victorian Stable Yard is receiving some attention at the moment with the relaying of the sandstone sets between the stable building and Moat Cottage. This will be a long term project as the area is fairly large and placing the irregularly sized stones is a time consuming job - not unlike building a stone wall on its side! The work has also involved putting a new drain in this area of the yard as the exceptionally high rainfall of 2012 caused a few problems with surface water. Satisfying though this job is, it can be a bit painful for workers' backs and knees.
