Headmaster's Transport
We are planning to hold a reunion of ex-pupils and teachers of Red House Preparatory School this summer (the first since the school closed in 2001) so it seemed a good time to start sorting through the old photos from the school days. This picture, from about 1985, shows Major Gordon, the headmaster, on his way from the Main House to the cricket field for a games lesson. The suspicion is that he was late for the session so he was very kindly lent/commandeered a bicycle to speed up the 500m journey. Bicycles were always the favourite method of transport for the pupils as well, as long as they were parked up neatly behind the pavilion before the practice began.
