Bracing ourselves for the Flood
We have had 63mm of rain in the last 7 days and more is forecast for this week. This has fallen on already saturated ground so we are expecting the River Ouse to flood quite severely in the next couple of days. The picture, taken from the Yew Walk, shows the Fish Ponds which have already spilled over onto the tennis court area. This is despite the installation of a new drainage system which carries the water from the ponds, under the main show jump arena and into the wood gutter. However, this can only work as long as the level of the River Ouse does not reach the height of the Fish Ponds, something that has already happened in September of this year.
