Stuck in the Mud
Last week saw the completion of the work on the new drain which takes water from the fish ponds to the moat field. There had been delays caused, of course, by the recent heavy rain followed by an exceptional flood which showed how well the drain works in both directions. The estate's 1953 fergie tractor was brought into action to finish the job of tracking in the trenches after the diggers had gone but, unfortunately, she found a soft spot in the trench and nearly lost her front wheel. She was ably pulled out by our larger 4 wheel drive tractor and is now safely back in the barn after a good wash down.
