The Moor Monkees
The peace of Red House was shattered on Saturday afternoon when the newly formed band, The Moor Monkees, set up outside the Garden House to give their first ever semi-public performance. The band, which is made up of Red House and Moor Monkton residents, has been put together to play at the village's Diamond Jubilee Celebrations on the 4th of June. The musicians only got together at the beginning of April and, for one or two of them, it has been a long time since they last played (12 years in the case of the drummer), so there have been frequent practices in Red House Chapel (but that was too cold!) and then in the Garden House. Their set includes popular songs from every decade of Queen Elizabeth II's reign.
The line up is Ria Hennessy (lead vocals), Sarah Hughes (keyboard), Ian Pickering (rhythm guitar and vocals), Robin Gordon (drums). James Pickering (bass guitar) could not make the Saturday practice as he was driving his Volvo around the Nürburgring.
