All Saints Church, Moor Monkton
The parish church of Moor Monkton is closely linked to Red House as the Slingsbys controlled nearly all the property in the village by the end of the 16th century. Although the church was first built in the 11th century, most of what can be seen now, internally and externally, is due to the Slingsbys. In 1638 a brick tower was built to house the new bell that Slingsby had recast from the two originals. Also the balusters of the communion rail and the communion table are from this time. The brick tower was later encased in stone in the 19th century. Despite the Slingsbys having their own chapel at Red House and the parish church in Knaresborough, there are several memorials to family members. The most striking is the memorial window of the Rev. Charles Slingsby who died in a hunting accident in 1912.
