Snow Clouds over Park Farm
Park Farm is next door to Red House and has a close association to estate. The farm house used to be the gate house of the estate with the drive to Red House running through the farm. The drive continued into the Deer Park and up to the stone gate posts that still stand by the fish ponds. Sometime in the 19th century the drive was redirected to its present course via Redhouse Wood, probably following an ancient route to the River Ouse past the original moated site of Red House. The gate house became the gamekeeper's cottage, a post of some responsibility, involving the running if the shoot in the wood and the deer herd that still roamed the park. When the Estate was broken up in 1916 the cottage had still not evolved into a farm, something that did not happen until later in the 20th century.
