Spitfire over Red House
Friday the 2nd of September proved to be a treat for air display enthusiasts at Red House with an extended show of planes flying over RAF Linton-on-Ouse. The station is about 5km north west of Red House and trains future RAF pilots in Tucano trainer aircraft so they are a common sight in the skies over Red House. The display on Friday began with the Red Arrows performing for the first time since the tragic accident at Bournemouth last month. There were further flypasts of other craft including the Tucanos in the afternoon. Then, in the evening, the unmistakable sound of a Merlin engine was heard over Red House and a Spitfire was spotted performing circuits from Linton to Red House.
