The Arctic comes to Red House
The arctic weather seems to be here to stay with over 26cm of snow falling in the last 10 days and night temperatures dropping to minus 10 degrees centigrade or below on 5 occasions. The inevitable problems caused by icy roads and frozen taps have made life troublesome but this has partly been offset by the stunning scenery around the estate. Even the horses seem to enjoy being put out in the mornings despite the cold snow on their noses as they struggle to find the frozen grass beneath. This scene shows the sun rising through the mist over the Hill Field while the estate weather station recorded a temperature of minus 14.
