Kingfisher on the Ouse
This recent shot of our most colourful bird was taken by Dr John Reed while walking by the banks of the River Ouse. These birds are a fairly common site along both the Nidd and the Ouse for the patient watcher but they are extremely hard to photograph owing to their speed of flight. The sandy river banks lined with willow provide them with a perfect habitat and hunting ground.
