Fungus on a Tree Stump
Next to the tennis court stood a fine cherry tree which, this year, failed to produce leaves. It was felled back in May and the stump was left so as not to disturb the lawns around tennis court too much. This autumn several clumps of what looks suspiciously like a type of honey fungus has sprouted from the stump. This can be very destructive to living trees if it gets into their root system so a digger is being hired to remove this threat in the near future.
