Raspberry Thief!
Jan Gordon (aged 2) is caught red handed eating raspberries from the bushes next to the peach wall. The raspberries form part of a new development at Red House where a vegetable garden and green house were set up earlier this spring. The idea harks back to the old kitchen gardens, situated on the site of the equestrian arena, which would have made the estate almost self sufficient in fruit and vegetables well into the 20th century. Plans are already afoot to extend the garden for next year, although this may depend on Ian Hartley's (voluntary "head gardener") willingness to dig up another 100 square metres of turf.
