Cain - the 21 year old oak tree
This oak was planted by the younger pupils of Red House Prep School in 1989 and is growing just to the north east of the Chapel. The acorn was taken from under either Adam or Eve, the ancient oaks at Red House, and initially potted and placed next to the school laboratory in the old stable yard. It was transplanted the following year and ever since has been left to grow without any pruning or crown lifting. Now standing about 10 metres tall, the result is a beautifully full, symmetric tree which provides much entertainment for the children living at Red House.
