Tea Break
The old stable yard, which sees its greatest use during the Riding Holidays, has a superb surface of old York stone setts. Mysteriously there is one patch which was covered in grass. Over the winter we "excavated" this area and found quite a few setts scattered under the soil (also old saddlery buckles, nails, bicycle chains, marbles, rulers, pens, etc.). The setts were dug up and relayed as shown in the picture. We have a further source in the floor of one of the old garages and these will be moved across to provide a yard completely covered in stone.
