The Fence by the Drive
Richard Hill nails another rail to a post while rebuilding the 200m fence that runs along the Red House drive. The previous fence was built in the 1980's after the Redhouse Ings Resevoir had been constructed. Most of the spoil from the excavations was put on the land known as Butcher Field (on the far side of the fence) raising its height by several metres. By last year many of the old posts had become rotten and the prevailing westerly winds gently lent it against the line of lyme trees that grow along the drive. However an unexpected easterly caught it out and, overnight, most of it fell into the field.
