Brass Band in the Snow
The Red House Carol Service service was held in the Chapel on Saturday the 19th of December with the Brass Band "Something Else" accompanying the singing. Despite the snow and ice outside, the Chapel was comfortably full and we all sang the christmas hymns heartily. Interspersed with the carols, the christmas story was retold with lessons being read by friends and residents of the Estate. After the service, there was a short walk through the snow to the Garden House where mulled wine, hot chocolate and mince pies were waiting. The band kept the entertainment going with some more upbeat numbers which they performed in the shelter of a tent on the croquet lawn as more snow began to fall (see picture).
Many thanks to Beate Gordon for decorating the chapel and preparing the mulled wine, to Trish Hughes and Carolyn Evans for the delicious mince pies, and, of course, the band for providing the essential atmosphere of the event.
A retiring collection raised £121.35 for the Chapel Restoration Fund.
