Apples and Wasps.
At this time of year, as the apples begin to ripen and fall to the ground, one of the natural hazards at Red House is the hoards of hungry wasps that swarm in to gorge themselves on the apple flesh. This close up shot shows a couple of wasps getting stuck into an apple beneath the tree outside the Garden House. After a warm day, the apples begin to ferment and many a drunken wasp can be seen struggling to take off in search of its next feast.
