Easter Chicks
One of the problems with having free range hens at Red House is the chance that one gets broody and lays a clutch of eggs in a secret location. All we know is that the hen is lost for a few weeks and then emerges from hiding with her newly hatched chicks. This is exactly what this proud hen did when she decided to lay in the small, wild corner of Moat Cottage garden normally reserved for hedgehogs and toads. On Good Friday she paraded her 11 new chicks which were swiftly rehoused with her in a nursery pen for safekeeping.
