Unseasonal Flooding of the River Ouse
The River Ouse overflowed its banks on Sunday after the recent heavy rains. In the picture it can be seen pouring over the riverside bridlepath into the wood drain which causes problems with localised erosion where the bank is lower at this point.
The flood was quite disastrous for wildlife near the river as Sand Martin nests in the river bank were washed out and moorhens lost there eggs when the surrounding ponds and streams were inundated.
