In August 1992 Red House was temporarily transformed into Brockhurst College by a filming unit from Yorkshire Television. The buildings were used to represent the college to which Pop Larkin (David Jason) decides to send his young twins. When Brockhurst is threatened with closure, Pop springs to the rescue.
Red House featured in the first two episodes (The Happiest Days of Your Life) of Series 3 and many areas were pictured. The dining room became a kitchen and classroom, the library became the headmistress' study, Belasyse dormitory was used as a dormitory, the facade was covered in fake creepers and the old school boiler room (now Vavasour House kitchen) provided the scene for Pop Larkin to show off his plumbing skills.
Some of the Red House residents managed to get in on the filming with Major Gordon appearing as a new parent and Beaulieu, the New Forest Pony, as a bad tempered pony (no acting there!).
