The School 1st XI Hockey Team 1981
This is the School's hockey team taken just before a match on the main pitch by the pavilion. Hockey became a major sport at Red House when Major Gordon took over as headmaster in 1977 and there were always close connections between the school and York Hockey Club. Mr Anderson and Major Gordon were the team coaches and both played for York. As well as playing for York, Red House players frequently went on to play for Yorkshire, The North East and England/GB. Although not an Old Cavalier, Jon Potter (member of the gold medal winning GB team at the Seoul Olympics) even lived on the Estate for a short while.
