The Red House Greenhouse
This was in the old kitchen garden, against the northern wall and stands behind a good crop of cabbages. In 1950 it was not long for this world and, by the 1970s, it was in ruins and was taken down before 1980. The large barrel, which was presumably collecting water, was, in fact, the old vessel from the ethylene plant which provided gas for the lights in the main building in the 1920's. It is still around (2019) and is used to collect steel debris from the estate bonfire.
