The Stable Arch
The grand arch which guards the entrance to the stable yard hasn't changed much since it was built in the 1860s. Similarly the yard itself is still (in 2018) surfaced with sandstone setts although the area they cover now is much greater. The timber fencing in front of the right hand window bordered a ball playing area which was set up in the corner of the yard. The weather vane seems to have lost its louvres which was always a problem until its restoration in 2001.
