Haymaking
One of the activities that the schoolboys undertook was farmwork as it helped to provide them with a more rounded education. They were involved in raising livestock with the idea of making the operation pay for itself. The fields in front of the Main Building were used to take a crop of hay each summer and the boys would help the land workers bring it in. The man on the left is the son of Mr Noyce who worked on the grounds (he joined the navy during the war). The picture is taken by the drive with Moat Cottages in the background.
