The Renovation of the Garden House

Situated in front of the south west corner of the main building, the Garden House (previously known as The Bungalow) had become superfluous to requirements while the school was running. It was originally built in the 1930's as the headmaster's accommodation but then evolved into general staff accommodation and classrooms and then most recently as a store.
With the imminent conversion of the main building into holiday accommodation we needed a space with large rooms and washing facilities to serve as a base for our Riding Holidays. In April 2002 work began in completely gutting the interior, dealing with a bit of subsidence and replacing the roof. Work finished in July 2002, the day before the first riding holiday began, and the building has proved very popular with the riders.
Between Riding Holidays the Garden House has also been used for art lessons, fashion displays, parties, as a recording studio, holding club meetings and for running courses.
